Society/community and for that matter all groups of individuals in their prime form hinder the growth of individual. Contradictory it seems. Effect(group) obstructs the cause(individual)! Reminds of Lenz's law? Or I am stretching the 'existentialism' too far to be practical? Actually whenever I find some tradition of society opposed to my own convictions, I see that I have no feasible choice left other than to be neutral and let it be as it is.
Back to blogger after 14 years and this was what I had written last on it ( in fact in truncated form using sms jargons prevalent then, like 4 d8 m8r meaning for that matter).
Now what is the dilemma of Man vs Society?
Men(I mean human beings) created society for their own safety and it brought the sense of belongigngness to the members. In course of time society became dominant and it started laying down rules and regulations, rituals, customs etc for its members. Again these were necessary to maintain the cohesion and the sense of belongigngness amongst the members. Also it helped different societies in being distinct from each other. Some societies would always be contiguous and not distinct with clear boundaries like society of two neighbouring villages, society of two castes /religions living in same geographical area etc.
Now due to rapid technological advancements different societies have been intermingled. A single human being has to be member of several societies at the same time. Cause number 1 of the Dilemma.
For our own convenience let's suppose a human being is member of a single society. Then ideally there should be no dilemma. But that is there even then. Members of a society grow emotionally, socially, economically, educationally and on other tangible and intangible parameters at different pace. And this creates the Dilemma. Cause number 2.
